Connect to More: New Cold-Climate Comfort in a Space-Saving Heat Pump

Since 2021, heat pump sales have increased significantly in the U.S. as cost-conscious homeowners seek to lower their home heating and cooling costs and climate-conscious homeowners aim to reduce their personal carbon footprint. At the same time, the HVAC industry is undergoing a significant transformation as it shifts away from using high-GWP refrigerants.

The new GE Connect Series Side-Discharge Inverter Heat Pump — now available in 2-, 3- and 4/5-ton options — makes it easier to succeed on both fronts.

The Connect Series is dual fuel-rated and compatible with over 600 AHRI-certified products, including GE Appliances air handlers, evaporator coils and gas furnaces, and third-party models, giving distributors and their HVAC pros a streamlined offering to solve a wide variety of challenges from extreme cold climate applications to narrow lot line installations.

Plus, these models are eligible for federal Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credits, also known as 25C tax credits, as well as rebates from local utility companies.

Empowering pros with flexibility

The broad compatibility of the Connect Series enables pros to work with many systems and meet diverse homeowner needs with less hassle. This flexibility simplifies inventory management, reduces installation challenges, and ensures more successful system upgrades. And as dual fuel-rated heat pumps, they maximize energy efficiency, comfort and reliability. They are also compatible with standard 24V thermostats, meaning no proprietary controls are required.

Installer-friendly features that help close the sale

  1. Cold Climate Performance: Rated for heating down to –22°F, this ENERGY STAR®–certified heat pump delivers superior performance even in extreme cold.Energy Efficiency: Offers cost-effective, year-round climate control with its energy-efficient inverter heat pump delivering performance ratings of up to 19 Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio 2 (SEER2) and 10 Heating Seasonal Performance Factor 2 (HSPF2).

  2. Space-Saving Design: Ducted side-discharge configuration features a compact depth of just 17-1/8" (model NS18H24HA5; see product specifications for other models) with optimized installation clearances, requiring just 4" in the back and 14" in the front, which is ideal for zero lot line or limited-space applications.

  3. Quiet Operation: With noise levels as low as 54 dB (model NS18H24HA5; see product specifications for other models), homeowners can be assured they will enjoy comfortable heated and cooled spaces without disruptive noise.

  4. Peace of Mind With Extended Warranty: Homeowners can double the five-year warranty to 10 years by registering the unit.

The Smart Refrigerant Choice: Understanding R454B

The Connect Series uses R454B refrigerant, a low global warming potential option that meets updated refrigerant guidelines.

The HVAC industry is adopting A2L refrigerants to reduce its carbon footprint and comply with federal regulations such as the American Innovation and Manufacturing Act. A2L refrigerants have a significantly lower GWP — up to 79% less — than R410A.

Adopting R454B refrigerant favorably positions distributors for future refrigerant transition regulations, and it can be charged and serviced just like R410A, making the transition easier for HVAC professionals. Read our A2L transition guide for HVAC distributors to learn more.
